Short-term Intensive Parent Consultation

Helping parents be better parents and families get along better.

In preparing to become parents, we received ample advice about what to buy, how to change diapers, and which stroller was best. However, the biggest piece of advice that no parent ever gets is this:

Children are trauma triggers.

We’re never closer to our own childhood pain as when we have children of our own.

What’s more, in our modern world, it’s possible to become a parent without ever having any real experience relating to or raising children. What other job could you get with such an empty resume!

No wonder parents are stressed out, overwhelmed, and confused about how to navigate the bumpy road of raising children!

I work to empower parents, putting them back in the driver’s seat and helping families get along better.

You decide the pacing and frequency of our meetings, where we’ll consider:

  • the practical (tantrums – how do I navigate them?),

  • the deeply personal (I can’t tolerate my child’s distress), and

  • the interpersonal (my partner are in conflict because we have widely different views on discipline).

Together, we will discover the patterns from the past that are influencing your actions as a parent, then help to develop new ways of relating to your children and yourselves.

Our work can lead to greater freedom, growth, and flexibility in the face of the developmental crossroads that every family must face.

In addition to office meetings, I also offer home and school observations to deepen and expedite our work.

My work with parents is often short-term, and families may return for periodic visits over the years to address new issues as they emerge.

As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child. Sadly, we modern humans have lost our village.

We still need that support, even if it’s hard to find! So, if it feels supportive, feel free to consider me your parenting partner from pre-birth until your children launch, and even beyond!
